DHS Seeks Cutting-Edge Counter-Drone Technology to Protect America’s Skies

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking information from vendors with integrated counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) solutions. This is a preliminary step toward a potential future procurement of C-UAS technology.

DHS is particularly interested in systems that can detect, track, and identify small drones, also known as Group 1 and 2 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The ideal system would be deployable in various operational environments and capable of protecting a range of facilities and events, including:

  • Prisons
  • Critical infrastructure
  • Government buildings
  • College campuses
  • Mass gatherings such as sporting events and festivals
  • High-profile events designated as National Special Security Events

The C-UAS Capability Optimization Research Environment (CORE) initiative is an international effort with the United Kingdom and Canada to test and evaluate C-UAS technology. The upcoming U.S. CORE II event will take place from May 12-16, 2025 at Fort Wolters National Guard Base in Mineral Wells, Texas. This event will allow DHS to see various systems in action and gather valuable performance data before making any procurement decisions.

Interested vendors should submit their information to DHS no later than February 7, 2025. This information should include a detailed description of the C-UAS solution, system specifications, and estimated unit cost. The unit cost should not exceed $250,000 and must include all necessary hardware, software, and accessories. Following a review of submissions, DHS will invite selected vendors to participate in the U.S. CORE II event.
