At the end of 2020, the DGA ordered two new generation CAP 10 trainers from Robin Aircraft, an SME based in Darois (Côte-d’Or) and specializing in the production of light single-engine aircraft. The aircraft are intended for the training of pilot cadets in naval aeronautics within the 50 S squadron of the French Navy, stationed at Lanvéoc-Poulmic (Finistère). They will allow the training squdron to once again have a fleet of seven CAP 10s, with the requirement to train up to 45 cadets a year.
The contract, worth 1.1 million euros, also includes the supply of upgrade kits for the five CAP 10s of previous generations currently in service to the 50 S since the early 1980s. deal with their material obsolescence and make their dashboard as close as possible to those of the CAP 10 NG. The deliveries of the two planes and the kits are scheduled for 2022.
The CAP 10 aircraft is a two-seater side-by-side aerobatic training aircraft, made of wood and canvas, launched in the 1970s. Its flying qualities make it an effective means of selection for pilots.
