The director of the R&D Division in the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MAFAT) and Rafael successfully completed a series of Iron Dome interception tests, the publication was allowed today (Monday).
The Ministry of Defense stated that during the tests, a number of scenarios were examined that simulate future threats that the system may face during a conflict on land and at sea. An iron dome in its new configuration will be operationally used by the Air Force. The system will also be integrated on Saar 6 ships, and will, according to the ministry, be a “central part of the State of Israel’s economic protection capability.”
The development of the Iron Dome weapon system was led by MAFAT. Raphael is the developer of the weapons system, and the IAI division of IAI has developed the system’s radar in its marine configuration and the MMR radar for the land configuration, the command and control system is being developed by mPrest.
This testing was performed amid heightened tensions in the gulf region with Iran and sends a direct message as to Israel’s operational defense capabilities on land and sea.
